The Future Needs Funding Program (FNFP) is designed to capture funds that a donor intends to leave for a non profit organization (NPO) down the road, but is not in a position to give those funds at this time. Normally, many of these funds may never reach a NPO, because the donor never gets around to gifting these funds, or never changes his or her estate planning documents in a manner that leaves the funds to the NPO (who would never know they were intended for the NPO in the first place).
FNFP gives a NPO the ability to go back to those key donors who provide so much to the NPO from a current operation standpoint, and ask them to consider participating in this program, without having to give further funds away at this time.
A current dilemma with NPOs is that there is no way in which to efficiently track funds not yet given to them, yet intended for them in the future. FNFP provides a NPO a means for tracking funds that have been earmarked to fund its long-term goals, i.e. endowment funds.
FNFP is very simple, and keeps the conversation focused on where it belongs: On the donor, donor’s family, and donor’s charitable interest, the non profit organization.
